Monitorización de eventos en Android a nivel nativo

El objetivo final de este proyecto consiste en desarrollar un sistema de análisis dinámico del comportamiento de aplicaciones Android. Esto pasa por la interceptación de llamadas al sistema y de la comunicación entre procesos relativos a una aplicación Android. El sistema estará basado en una plataforma real, sobre la que se ejecuta el sistema operativo Android, y estará dividido en una parte residente en el dispositivo, dedicada a la monitorización de la aplicación y otra parte residente en un servidor externo, que se ocupe del análisis de los datos extraídos en la monitorización. Será necesaria algún tipo de comunicación entre las partes. Los sub-objetivos del proyecto son los siguientes: Analizar el panorama actual de herramientas de monitorización y de análisis dinámico para Android. Proporcionar una herramienta que permita monitorizar de forma transparente las llamadas al sistema y la comunicación entre procesos de una aplicación Android en ejecución. Federated identity architecture of the european eID system

Federated identity management is a method that facilitates management of identity processes and policies among the collaborating entities without a centralized control. Nowadays, there are many federated identity solutions, however, most of them covers different aspects of the identification problem, solving in some cases specific problems. Thus, none of these initiatives has consolidated as a unique solution and surely it will remain like that in a near future. To assist users choosing a possible solution, we analyze different federated identify approaches, showing main features, and making a comparative study among them. The former problem is even worst when multiple organizations or countries already have legacy eID systems, as it is the case of Europe. In this paper, we also present the European eID solution, a purely federated identity system that aims to serve almost 500 million people and that could be extended in midterm also to eID companies. The system is now being deployed at the EU level and we present the basic architecture and evaluate its performance and scalability, showing that the solution is feasible from the point of view of performance while keeping security constrains in mind. The results show a good performance of the solution in local, organizational, and remote environments

Effectiveness of Dry Needling versus Placebo on Gait Performance, Spasticity, Electromyographic Activity, Pain, Range-of-Movement and Quality of Life in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis: A Randomized Controlled Trial Protocol

Dry needling (DN) is an emerging technique commonly used in neurological and musculoskeletal pain conditions, but there have been no previous studies in patients with multiple sclerosis (pwMS). This trial aims to assess the efficacy of deep DN, compared with sham placebo DN, on gait performance, spasticity level, pain, electromyographic activity, range-of-movement (ROM) and quality of life in pwMS. Forty adults with MS were randomly assigned to one study group. The DN group will undergo 2 sessions (once per week) using DN over the rectus femoris (RF) and gastrocnemius medialis (GM) muscles at the lower extremity with higher spasticity. The placebo group will receive the same protocol using a sham placebo needle (Dong Bang needle). Outcome measures will include gait performance, using the GaitRite(R) system, spasticity level with the Modified Ashworth Scale, superficial electromyographic activity of RF and GM, pain (pressure algometer), ROM (goniometer), and quality of life (Musiqol). This study is the first investigating the short-term effect of DN, compared with placebo, in pwMS, and taking into account the possible changes in the electromyographic activity of the lower limb. Therefore, the results may help to understand the suitability of using this technique in the clinical setting for this population. Trial registration: ACTRN12619000880145

Resistencia de la soya [Glycine max. (L.) Merr.] al estrés por calor en estado de plántula

El objetivo del presente estudio fue conocer la respuesta de 21 genotipos de soya a altas temperaturas en estado de plántula. Se evaluaron cuatro niveles de temperatura: θ1 = 50 ± 1 °C, θ2 = 54 ± 1 °C, θ3 = 58 ± 1 °C y θ4 = 62 ± 1 °C, los cuales fueron acumulativos. Para θ1 se calificó el grado de cierre de las hojas (GCH) y para el resto de los tratamientos el grado de marchitez (GM). Posterior al último tratamiento se aplicó un riego y se observó el grado de recuperación (GR) de las plántulas estresadas. Se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar desbalanceado para GCH y GR; en GM fue completamente al azar en arreglo factorial 21 x 3. Se observaron diferencias entre genotipos en GCH: seis fueron insensibles, mientras que H98-1240 cerró sus hojas por completo. Considerando los efectos genéricos, θ4 provocó el mayor GM y entre genotipos, 15 presentaron un bajo GM, destacando H02-1337 como el menos marchito; H98-1240 resultó el más afectado. Según los efectos específicos, H02-1337 no sufrió cambios al pasar de θ2 a θ3, considerándose el más resistente en este nivel; mientras que H02-2248 aumentó en menor proporción el GM entre θ3 y θ4. El GR posterior al riego indicó que los genotipos con mayor GM tardaron más en recuperarse, incluso algunos no lo hicieron y viceversa; sin embargo dicha variabilidad se debió probablemente a efectos aleatorios

Variable expression of cerebral cavernous malformations in carriers of a premature termination codon in exon 17 of the Krit1 gene

BACKGROUND: Cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) present as either sporadic or autosomal dominant conditions with incomplete penetrance of symptoms. Differences in genetic and environmental factors might be minimized among first-degree relatives. We therefore studied clinical expression in a family with several affected members. METHODS: We studied a three-generation family with the onset of CCM as a cerebral haemorrhage in the younger (four-year-old) sibling. Identification and enumeration of CCMs were performed in T2-weighted or gradient-echo MRIs of the whole brains. Genetic analysis comprised SCCP, sequencing and restriction polymorphism of the Krit1 gene in the proband and at risk relatives. RESULTS: The phenotypes of cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) in carriers of Krit1 mutations were very variable. We identified a novel frameshift mutation caused by a 1902A insertion in exon 17 of the Krit1 gene, which leads to a premature TAA triplet and predicts the truncating phenotype Y634X. A very striking finding was the absence of both clinical symptoms and CCMs in the eldest sibling harbouring the 1902insA. CONCLUSIONS: Patients in this family, harbouring the same mutation, illustrate the very variable clinical and radiological expression of a Krit1 mutation. The early and critical onset in the proband contrasts with minor clinical findings in affected relatives. This consideration is important in genetic counselling

Clinical practice guidelines for the prevention of nosocomial infections associated with the use of medical devices

Las infecciones asociadas a la atención en salud representan un problema de salud pública y son un indicador de la calidad en prestación y gestión en salud. En este contexto, los programas de vigilancia y control epidemiológico de estas enfermedades, y la adaptación e implementación de guías para su prevención son estrategias que pueden mejorar la seguridad del paciente y deben ser una prioridad para las instituciones. Un panel de expertos de las áreas de infectología, cuidados intensivos, neumología, enfermería, terapia respiratoria y farmacia, preparó una guía de práctica clínica para la prevención de las infecciones asociadas a dispositivos médicos, mediante un proceso de adaptación de otras guías por medio de una estrategia de búsqueda sistemática basada en la “evidencia”. Se propone que estas guías sean utilizadas por los trabajadores de la salud con el fin de establecer estrategias que prevengan la aparición de infecciones hospitalarias relacionadas con dispositivos de uso prioritario durante el cuidado intensivo. Se hacen recomendaciones basadas en información científica y adaptadas a nuestro medio en temas generales, como la introducción de listas de chequeo, el lavado de manos y los sistemas de vigilancia y supervisión; se formulan recomendaciones específicas para la prevención de las infecciones del torrente sanguíneo asociadas a dispositivos intravasculares, de las infecciones respiratorias asociadas al uso de asistencia respiratoria mecánica y de las infecciones urinarias asociadas al uso de catéteres urinarios.Guías de práctica clínica292-308Healthcare associated infections (HAI) are an important public health problem and an indicator of the quality of healthcare and management. In this scenario, surveillance and epidemiologic control programs and the adaptation and implementation of clinical guidelines for HAI prevention are estrategies that can improve the safety of patient care and should be prioritized in the institutions. Evidence based clinical practice guidelines for the prevention of infections asociated with invasive medical devices were prepared by an expert panel in infectious diseases, critical care, pulmonary care, nursery, respiratory therapy and pharmacy by means of a process of adaptation of other guidelines available through a systematic review of the literature. These guidelines are intended to be used by healthcare workers with the aim of establishing estrategies to prevent HAI related to invasive medical devices. Recommendations based of scientific evidence adapted to our setting are made related to general estrategies such as checklists, hand washing, surveillance and supervision systems. Specific recommendations to prevent bloodstream infections related to intravascular catheters, respiratory infections related to mechanical ventilation and urinary tract infections related to urinary catheters are made

Genome-Wide Association Study of Multiple Sclerosis Confirms a Novel Locus at 5p13.1

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common progressive and disabling neurological condition affecting young adults in the world today. From a genetic point of view, MS is a complex disorder resulting from the combination of genetic and non-genetic factors. We aimed to identify previously unidentified loci conducting a new GWAS of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in a sample of 296 MS cases and 801 controls from the Spanish population. Meta-analysis of our data in combination with previous GWAS was done. A total of 17 GWAS-significant SNPs, corresponding to three different loci were identified:HLA, IL2RA, and 5p13.1. All three have been previously reported as GWAS-significant. We confirmed our observation in 5p13.1 for rs9292777 using two additional independent Spanish samples to make a total of 4912 MS cases and 7498 controls (ORpooled = 0.84; 95%CI: 0.80–0.89; p = 1.36×10-9). This SNP differs from the one reported within this locus in a recent GWAS. Although it is unclear whether both signals are tapping the same genetic association, it seems clear that this locus plays an important role in the pathogenesis of MS
